Dear Weston High School Parents,

On behalf of the Weston High School PTO, I would like to welcome you and your family to Weston High School! I hope you are having a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the new school year.

The PTO plays an important role in our school and community. The mission of our PTO is to advance quality education at Weston High School through communication among students, faculty, parents, administrators, the Board of Education, and the community. To this end, I am excited to announce that the PTO is, for the first time, providing membership to all WHS families, free of charge! With this membership, families will receive a free online directory app and direct communication about important PTO, school and class happenings through our enewsletter, Facebook pages and our website. However, while membership is complementary to all high school families this year, we still need for you to register! Tomorrow, you will receive a membership registration letter in your inbox. Please click on the link provided in the letter and select YES to membership in the WHS PTO. There will be no charge. Alternatively, you can visit our website, click on “Join the PTO” from the left hand bar and sign up by using the registration link.

The WHS PTO is a vibrant organization run by a team of bright, energetic and dedicated volunteers. We work to keep parents informed and educated about both PTO and school events, act as liaisons between parents and the high school and district administration, support our teachers by providing funding for programming and supplies that fall outside the budget and showing “the love” through luncheons and other special events, arrange speakers on topics relevant to parents of high school age children - the list goes on. Our organization also raises money through several fundraising efforts including the legacy bricks campaign, the Election day bake and online pie sale, and, most importantly, our annual Memorial Day road race. Last year, we successfully raised almost $43,000. Our biggest philanthropy initiative was the funding of the college and career counseling center renovation (stop in and take a look!). There are numerous opportunities for you to become involved and make a difference in your child’s educational environment.

This year, the PTO will hold its General meetings on the first Friday of select months, beginning at 8:30 a.m., in the WHS Library main classroom. Our first meeting of the year will be held on Friday, September 6th. A full schedule of meetings is posted on our website. At our meetings, the PTO Executive Board and key Chairpeople provide updates on their respective responsibilities including upcoming programming, BOE and school budget progress, fundraising efforts and class events. We also review and vote on the teachers’ administrators’ philanthropy requests. Principal Wolak participates in our meetings, sharing current WHS developments. In addition, we host engaging speakers, both internally and externally sourced, about a wide range of relevant topics. If there is a topic you are interested in hearing about, please contact our Vice President, Angela Zielinski, is in charge of programming. You can reach her by email at angelapz2002@yahoo.com.

I am excited and honored to be at the helm of our PTO this year and look forward to working to make sure that our PTO continues to fulfill its mission. I hope to see you at our meeting on September 6th. Enjoy the rest of your summer and please do not hesitate to contact me with your thoughts, comments and suggestions for ways for the WHS PTO to better serve its members. I can be reached at 203-221-0668 or troxellanne@me.com.

Security and Parking at Weston High School
When visiting WHS please remember to bring your driver’s license for identification.  Security will scan your ID and issue you a visitor badge, which must always be worn when in the building.
When attending meetings or visiting WHS please park in visitor spaces; along School Road across from the WHS main entrance, or along the WIS access road on the side next to Stadium Field.  There is no visitor parking in any lot (including the gravel lot).  These parking spaces are numbered (except for the gravel lot) and have been assigned to students and staff members.  An empty parking space does not mean it's available.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
